Have you heard of Moore’s Law?   In 1965, Intel co-founder, Gordon E. Moore described a trend in the semiconductor industry where he had observed the number of transistors designed into integrated circuits doubling every two years since their invention in 1958.    Moore went on to predict that the trend would continue for at least the next 10 years. The prediction was eventually called “Moore’s Law,” and it became so well established in industry that companies considered it a valuable tool for long term growth and capacity planning.

In our first six years of existence, TouchStone 3D has followed the trend predicted by Moore’s Law.  Not in transistor count, though–We have been fortunate enough to need to double our facility space, employee head count, and customer base every 2 years.    In 2010, six years after founding TouchStone 3D,  we moved from a 2000 square foot facility to our new 4000 square foot facility, and our employee needs and customer base have also doubled since 2008.

We are anticipating growing even further in the next few years.  In 2011, we are emerging from the “Great Recession” stronger than ever.  Will Moore’s Law continue to apply to us? We are already planning for it!
