Kindheart wanted to create a surgical simulator so that doctors could practice abdominal surgeries. We worked with them to create a detailed CAD model of the body and internal organs.

Life-like models of the body, bones, and organs were made in-house using silicone and urethane casting.

The materials were specially selected to behave like skin and organs, and the model was painted to provide anatomical references for the practicing surgeon.

The general surgery simulator is designed to be modular to allow for a wide variety of surgeries to be performed with this one mannequin. These range from hernia sac reductions to bowel anastomoses.

The model allows for porcine tissue to be placed in multiple locations to allow the surgeons to practice on living tissue with a surrounding environment that is life-like.

A custom mount was designed for the simulator to rest in. The mount was produced using our in-house CNC routing table. The mount includes posts for keeping the model in place, tie down locations for attaching the model to the surgical table, and slots for ventilation.
