The initial design for this pistol grip began as a wooden, hand-sculpted prototype which was then 3D scanned and imported into CAD (computer aided design). Our designers then worked to convert this preliminary design into a manufacturable product.

Prototypes of the design were fabricated using a powder-based 3D printer in combination with silicone casting to give this prototype both the look and feel of the final product.

The final, production unit was designed to be injection molded with an overmold to provide a comfortable, yet firm grip for the user.

Our client, Phoenix Molded Plastics, was then able to begin their own, in-house injection molded production of the design.
