Ventpods mount into an existing AC vent in a vehicle to hold a turbo boost gauge. To create a design that would fit precisely into the vent hole, we 3D scanned several AC vents and designed the units accordingly.

Throughout the design process, consideration was given to manufacturability. The parts were designed with the intention of being molded, so parting lines and draft were included in the design.

Our team used urethane and silicone casting, otherwise known as RTV casting, to fabricate molds and produce highly functional units in low volume. These units had a production-like surface finish and allowed us to simulate injection molded parts at a much lower up-front investment.
